This board encompasses the same philosophy as the Monolithic Islands (that being the grouping of resource hexes), but isn't as extreme. All of the resources are on a single land mass, and Seafarers of Catan is not involved.

In this case, the island has definite geological and climatic zones. The East side of the island is mountainous and hilly, while the West side is flat and arable. The gold fields lie nestled between the hills and mountains. Across the center of the island, running North to South, is a strip of desert bordered by a strip of forests. The Western shore boasts a rich fishing ground.

When placing your starting pieces, you may wish to place one settlement / city in the Eastern region and the other settlement / city in the Western region. Note that the gold fields have low yield production numbers, so they may not be the best choice.
